Number of tourists who travel abroad increased 1 billion in 2012

In 2012 number of tourists who crossed international borders in a single year increased 1 billion, breaking a record.
The figures are given in World Tourism Organisation annual survey unveiled yesterday.

According to this United Nations agency, the number of people who traveled abroad in a whole world grew by 4% from the previous year.

The nominal 1-billionth tourist was greeted in Madrid where UNWTO is based.

UNWTO predicts in 2013 number of tourists will rise from 3% to 4%.
